Whether it’s a wedding toast or a keynote address, make the moment yours.
Twenty-five years of crafting speeches and coaching speakers to support you.
Speech Training
Writing a strong speech is half the job. The other half is delivering it — and delivery is a craft, not a personality trait. Whether you’re stepping to a podium, a camera, or a defense committee, what happens in the room is decided by preparation: pacing, emphasis, where to land, where to breathe, where to look up.
I’ve coached speakers at every level for more than two decades. As a high school and college debate coach, I led teams to regional and state honors and coached a national championship in parliamentary debate at Carroll College. I prepare and rehearse high-stakes addresses for boards, donors, legislators, and national audiences. The work is the same wherever the podium is: making sure that when the moment arrives, the speaker is ready.
Who I Work With
Executives, founders, and senior leaders. Keynotes, board presentations, investor pitches, all-hands addresses, conference panels, media appearances, and high-stakes interviews. Coaching is available standalone or paired with speechwriting.
Graduate students and academic professionals. Thesis defenses, dissertation defenses, job talks, conference presentations, and academic interviews. Particular experience with international students working in English as a second language.
College and graduate-school applicants. Scholarship interviews, admissions interviews (undergraduate, MBA, law, medical, and graduate programs), and audition or portfolio-review presentations.
Wedding speakers, eulogists, and others stepping up at personal events. When you only have one chance to get it right, even a single coaching session can change what the room remembers.
How it Works
Most engagements start with a free 20-minute consultation to understand the speech, the room, and the speaker. From there, I’ll recommend a structure that fits the timeline — a single session before a one-time event, a sequence of sessions for a high-stakes preparation, or ongoing work for speakers who present often. Sessions are conducted by video for clients outside the Sacramento-Bay area; in-person sessions are available locally.
Coaching covers what the speaker needs it to cover: vocal pacing and emphasis, structural revision of the script, gesture and presence, handling questions and follow-ups, recovering from missteps, and the specific challenges of presenting in a second language for international clients.
Support the writing with speech coaching
A speech that reads well on the page can still fail in the room — and a speech that reads only adequately on the page can land powerfully if delivered with intention. Most speakers under-prepare for delivery because they assume the script will carry them. It rarely does. Even an hour of focused coaching before a high-stakes moment changes what the audience hears.
Rates are scaled to the engagement and the audience. Student coaching is priced separately from executive work. Send me a note about what you’re preparing for, and I’ll respond with a quote and a recommended structure within 24 hours.
